Together

Where two or three are gathered in my name I am there in the midst of them. When you think about this scripture it really shows us that God loves for us to be “together” with each other and with him. This is when the rubber meets the road and we start exploring life together.

There is a joy that happens when we see the
value of how we are better when we are together.

God said to Adam, “It is not good to be alone.” Something happens when we are alone. Not that we should be with people constantly which would be unhealthy. If you need to be with people all the time you might be afraid to be alone with you. We need to be alone to search introspectively and spend time with God privately to seek his will and learn his heart. After we have done this, it is time to come together, share and have community with other believers. When we neglect this we become weaker and much more vulnerable to attacks from the enemy.

The enemy seeks to isolate us from others
which cuts us off from fellowship, encouragement and confessing our sins and struggles with each other.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the one who falls and has no one to help him up.

Part of doing life together with others is to grow up and grow together. There is not a huge challenge in fleshing stuff out by yourself. How can you grow and be stretched if you are not around others whose faith challenges you? There are people the Lord has placed in your life that are like sandpaper; they help smooth the rough edges off of you.

  • There are people that stretch you because you must exercise patience when you are around them.
  • There are people that challenge your love walk because they are anything but lovely.
  • There are people that are demanding and God is calling you to be gentle with them.

God is stretching you with these people, you are being made more flexible, able to mold in the Father’s hand.

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another and so much more as you see the day approaching.

Coming together to meet and invest in others is a choice. We must be intentional about it. It is a habit.

Get in the habit of investing in others, learning from each other and walking with Christ together. How will the world know we are disciples? When we have love for one another.
