Naked and Unashamed was the lifestyle of Adam and Eve as they walked with God in the cool of the day. They were free and had no consciousness of self. When they sinned the “ awareness” of their nakedness invoked fear and they began to try and clothe themselves. Rather than run to God they began to hide from him.
Their bold, confident unashamed walk with God now became a walk of fear and timidity. They lost their authority and identity. They once were only God conscious but now through this new found “knowledge” they have become “self-conscious” thus making them sin conscious.
They had nothing but fellowship with God before they believed the lie of the serpent. They decided to “cover themselves” with fig leaves. Isn’t this what we have all done before? God has given us spiritual clothing to cover ourselves and through the sin of not trusting God we choose to “make our own clothes” to cover ourselves. How do we make our own clothes? I’m glad you asked.
Don’t we make our “own clothes” when we hide, yet we seek answers, looking to ourselves and our own intellect. Human reasoning rather than God conversing. When we get more in our head having conversations with ourselves instead of yielding our hearts in surrender to God.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in The Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Natural clothing is a great barrier from natural elements but it isn’t going to provide a barrier against spiritual elements.
God has provided us with his clothing, his armor, his authority. There is a collision of kingdoms. Natural vs. Supernatural, Light vs. Darkness. The Bible tells us in Ephesians that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness, principalities and powers in high places.
Put on The Lord Jesus and make no provision for the flesh. This is how we “put Christ on” by choosing to place Christ on us, in us, and within the center of everything we do and the decisions we make. Being led by The spirit of God, rather than my intellect. To be clothed with his armor is to recognize and “put on” what Ephesians 6:13-18 states.
Eph 6:13-17
When you’ve done all to stand. Keep standing (perserverance). Gird your waist with Truth and Cover your heart( my paraphrase) with Breastplate of Righteousness. Have your feet ready with preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, take up the shield of faith, with which YOU WILL quench the fiery darts of hell. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
You have offensive and defensive weapons.
The helmet of salvation guards your mind from the lies of the enemy. This helmet is securely fixed upon you as you remind yourself “whose” you are and the high price that was paid for you. Boldly enter in through the blood of Jesus which has given you access and Authority.
When you know “whose” you are, then you are very settled in “ who you are.” Use the weapons you have been given. Be active not passive in your position.
Eph 6:18
Praying always. Being watchful to the end with all perseverance and supplication for the saints.
What Adam lost through disobedience, Christ bought back through the cross. He has equipped you and clothed you with the very presence of himself. Now, walk on. Naked and Unashamed. Knowing that HE has covered you.
