The Double Dog Dare
Do you remember growing up when you heard the words, I double dog dare you? When you heard them, there was no way you weren’t going to do whatever it was they were daring you to do.. Whatever it was, you were gonna do it. No possible way you were going to let your friends see you scared. It didn’t matter what they asked you to do, you did it.
Made Me Think
I got to thinking about the double dog dare the other day and how I would have the courage to step out and do most anything asked. And how as an adult I don’t seem to have that same courage.
When did it leave?
What happened to me to make me so afraid, or even scared?
Even scared to step out and do what God has asked me to do?
When did I allow what people thought of me stop me from stepping out and doing the things that take a little courage to do? I mean it’s God! Not some person who wants to harm me. Not someone who doesn’t want the best for me.
It’s God! The Creator of the universe. The One that knows the best plan for me and wants to see and help me succeed. The One who wants to accomplish His will through me.
Let Me Ask You This
What is it God is asking you to step out in faith in do? What is it that God has planned for you that you are just a little too nervous to even begin to think about how you, little old you, could ever do?
Has God placed a dream in your heart that only you could do the way He has planned it to be? Sure, somebody else could possibly do it. But not quite like you. He has created you to do it the exact way He wants it done.
Realizing I Had Forgotten How To Dream
I can remember going to a women’s conference in 2012 where I realized that I didn’t allow myself to dream. And I was actually ok with that. I was happy staying in the safe zone. Not doing anything I didn’t think I could do well.
I was way too scared that I couldn’t do whatever it was God wanted me to do. Sure I believed He could do whatever He wanted to do through other people. But me?! Nah. Why would he use me?
But that weekend was really a pivotal moment for me. I started asking the Lord to help me dream. What would it be that He would want me to do? As scary as that was for me, He started showing me.
Dreams Of The Heart
The first things He placed in my heart, at the time I thought were really kind of hard, but as I look back they were really the easy ones.
He has placed such a big dream in my spirit now that I don’t know if I’m more scared that it will happen or that it won’t. It is way too big for me. So God is going to have to show up BIG!! And you know I even believe that He will!
So Here’s My Question For You.
What is it that only God can do through you?
What is it that He has placed in your spirit to accomplish?
Do you even allow yourself to dream? To go to the places He wants you to go?
I dare you to ask Him what it is He has for you, if you don’t already know. In fact I DOUBLE DOG DARE you!
And let me know what it is He has for you!
